Mumbai: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) on Sunday seized 4.9 kg Methaqualone (drugs) worth Rs 1.47 crore and arrested woman at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. AIU received a tip from Narcotics Control Bureau of Mumbai Zonal Unit, after which AIU officials laid trap and arrested her.

According to the AIU officials, the woman holding South Africa passport has been identified as Vanessa De Kock who was travelling to Addis Ababa by Ethopian Airways flight (ET641). The woman was about to depart depart to Addis Ababa by Ethiopian Airways flight when the AIU officials intercepted her.

On checking her bag officials found 4.9 kg of Methaqualone. The woman had cleverly concealed the drugs stuffed inside 10 envelopes of cardboard which were wrapped inside salwar suit fabric and kept inside checked in baggage.

The officials have arrested the woman for further investigation.
