Thane Crime branch Unit arrested three people involved in robbery case of  Manappuram Gold  loan Finance  in Ulhasnagar and recovered gold of 2.862 kilograms worth Rs 77 , 27, 562. Police Suspect more people involvement into this case and are investigating further.


According to the police, last year in 2016, in the month of December 26, two masked men broke into Manappuram Gold loan branch and took away 28.686 kg gold worth Rs 7.22 crore. The robbers used gas cutter and gain entry in bathroom and then entered the office main area. They used gas cutter to break the locker and fled away with golds. The incident got captured in CCTV surveillance.


After the incident, a case was registered at Vitthalwadi Police station under section 454, 457 and  380 of the Indian Penal Code. Thane Crime Branch and Ulhasnagar unit formed team and started parallel investigation in the case.  Getting tip from the informer about one of the robber police laid a trap near Turbe in Navi Mumbai and arrested Mustafa aka Akhtar Shamsher Shaikh (44) who is said to be master-mind.

When police interrogated him he confessed and named other two involve in the case. Police then arrested Manoj Narbahadur Sawood (34) and  Kamruddin Shaikh (28) on Januray 4. Police have recovered Gold worth Rs 77, 27, 562 from the three.  All the three accused are hailing from Jharkhand.

Speaking with reporters, Thane Police Commissioner Parambir Singh said, ’15 more persons were involved in the dacoity and police teams have fanned out across the country in search of them. Police are trying to find out if the stolen jewellery has been sold and they would also trace the buyers.’
