Thane: After demonetisation the high denomination notes had been cancelled by the central government, leading to which thousands of notes under black money scam has been recovered and seized by the city’s police. In the latest the Thane police Crime branch Unit -1 have successfully arrested 6 people in three different cases for allegedly carrying old demonetisation notes Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes. The police claimed to seize Rs 2.25 crores in the case.
On February 25, Police inspector Sandeep Bagul received a tip-off from his sources about an white Ertiga car number MH 04 F R 3277 carrying illegal old denomination notes to exchange it with new currency notes near Chintamani Jwellers, Jambara Naka, Thane. Following to which a trap was laid near the Naka where cops intercepted the car and arrested four accused and seized Rs 46 lakh. “As per the tip-off we laid the trap and seized the old denomination notes which were brought to be exchange with new notes. We have seized 2450 notes of Rs 1000 currency notes and 4300 of Rs 500 notes respectively”, said police officer attached to investigation. The arrested accused has been identified as Dayashankar Yadav (28), Pankaj Goyal (40), Sunil Bhanushali (29).
Similar incident of carrying illegal Scrap notes seen on February 27 where Police inspector Rizwan Sayyed got a tip-off from his confidential source about a person riding Honda shine bike number MH 03 CA 1722 carrying old currency notes was about to travel near Golden-dice bridge. Leading to which a trap was laid and arrested two person identified as Chetan Randhwa (36) and Jitendra Bhatt . Police have seized 9990 notes of Rs 500 denomination and one of Rs 1000 respectively. Worth Rs 50,00.000.
In the third incident, Senior Police Inspector Nitin Thackeray on Tuesday received a tip against two people travelling with old currency notes near Ambedkar statue. The police laid trap near Ambedkar nagar and nabbed two people and seized Rs 500 note and Rs 1000 notes worth Rs 1,29,00,000. The two accused has been identifed as Kishor Dambre (25) aresident of Powai and Vinod Shinde (42) aresident of Nerul. Police have seized all the six people cell phones and are investigating further.
In a Press conference Thane Commissioner Prambir Singh congratulated the police team. He also said more people involvement into this black business and are keeping close eyes on them. In four days police have cracked three cases and seized the illegal old notes worths Rs 2.25 crore. Further the investigation is going on.
