Vikroli police have arrested seven people for robbing Telecom Base Transceiver Station (BTS) unit from Mumbai. Police have seized 200 BTS unit of different companies worth Rs 1 crore. 8 people are absconding into this case as investigation is going on.
According to the Police sources, on December 4, the complaint Masum Ali was on his way to office when he noticed three men near the Vikroli Bridge removing a BTS unit from a tower on the Eastern Express Highway doubt suspicious. On seeing Ali two of them fled from the spot while one was still standing. Ali immediately alerted the police who reached the spot and arrested the accused.
On interrogation he revealed other name two name and arrested them from Kurala and seized the Telecom BTS unit worth Rs 3 lakh. The three accused identified as Vishal Ahire (19), Sheshram Verma and Ganesh Kamle.
The three accused confessed about the crime and said that they had tie-up with the people in Kurla and sell them the BTS unit in scrap of which they get money. With the help of the information police reached the spot where they used to sell BTS unit and arrested man Kantilal Jain a dealer in Chembur.
When interrogated he revealed the business in also run in Kurla. Police raid the shop in Kurla belongs to another dealer called Abbas Malik arrested and seized Telecom BTS Unit of different company worth Rs 1,87.06065.
Police have booked the three accused under section 379 (punishment for theft) and 34 of Indian Penal Code and remanded in the custody till December 15 . more than 8 people are absconding into this cases and police are investigating into this matter.
