Mumbai: Bollywood sultan Salman Khan who founded Being Human Foundation, a mumbai based charity that works in education and healthcare for the underprivileged in India. The actor has now decided to launch his own Smartphone brand called ‘Being Smart’. The brand is expected to launch smartphones in the budget and mid-range segment.
According to Economic Times, Salman has reportedly already selected the Chinese plant which will manufacture the devices and has also picked smartphone models that will run on Android and cost below Rs 20,000.
The actor is also forming a managerial team with a leadership backing from stints at Samsung and Micromax. The devices are expected to be sold online at first, and later offline through authorised retail chains across the country. The devices are also expected to be sold at Being Human stores across the country.
According to the media reports, an executive said, ‘Salman is himself driving the show and searching for an investor. He expects to launch the devices in the next two-quarters and definitely before the festive season.’
On the other hand, keeping the charitable foundation Being Human in mind, just like his apparel and accessories line, a major chunk of the profits earned via Being Smart will be donated to the foundation that works for the development of underprivileged children.
