The iconic RK Studio suffered a major fire break out on September 16. The blazing fire was put down by six fire engines and five water tankers. The studio housed the logistics of the RK Films Production company both established by and named after Bollywood actor Raj Kapoor.

The incident was confined to electric wiring, electric installation, decoration equipment in the ground floor of the building, Chief of Mumbai fire brigade PS Rahangadale said.

During the investigation of the fire break out at M/s R K studio, it was observed that the NOC issued by Mumbai Fire Brigade in the year 2014 was not complied with.

Hence the NOC to the studio stands cancelled and a show cause notice for prosecution under Maharastra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act 2006 was issued for non-compliance of the fire safety measures stipulated in the NOC causing rapid spread of fire.

Actor Rishi Kapoor has said that he will rebuild the RK Studio after it was gutted down in a fire recently. An aggrieved Rishi Kapoor took to Twitter where he posted a photo of the now dilapidated premises of the studio, which was founded in 1948 by celebrated actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor in Chembur suburbs.

He also shared pictures of the yesteryears at the studio, recollecting the golden days of the studio.

A level 2 fire had broken out on the sets of the show “Super Dancer”, which spread from the electrical wing of the RK Studio and gutted the ground floor.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported and there were no crew members present on the set at the time of fire.
