On Saturday, National Investigation Agency (NIA) along with the Mumbai Police conducted raided at Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) office in Mumbai. On Friday a case was registered against the Naik for spreading enmity between the religions after which the raid conducted in his office this morning at around 5.00 am.

The speeches of Naik, who is currently out of the country apparently to evade arrest, are banned in the UK and Canada as well as in Malaysia. According to the sources, Naik is under scanner of involving in utilising is NGO funds in radicalisation of youths, spreading or promoting communal disharmony, feelings of enmity between communities and supporting terror acts.

He also came under scanner when one of the terrorist involved in Dhaka café had allegedly posted on social media that he has been inspired by Naik’s speeches.

According to the Home Ministry, Naik, who heads the IRF, has allegedly made many provocative speeches and engaged in terror propaganda. At the time of raid of time, Naik was not present at his office in Dongri. He is said to out of the country for the past few months.

CASE REGISTERED

According to the NIA , a First Information Report ( FIR) was registered on Friday under Sections 10 (Penalty for being member of an unlawful association),13 (Punishment for unlawful activities) ,18 ( Punishment for conspiracy) of UAPA and Section 153A (inciting hatred) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Naik and others.
