Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami found himself at the centre of a social media storm after he posted pictures with his wife and daughter on Facebook. The facebook users lambasted him for “forgetting his religion” in a post on December 23. His wife, Hasin Jahan is seen sporting a sleeveless gown in the picture which drew mixed reaction from the ‘fans’ on his Facebook page with many also supporting him and his family against the narrow minded bunch.
There are numerous comments of people reminding him of his religion and making sure his wife keeps a pardah . Here are some comments made by his followers: Apki wife ka itan bada gala pehni hain, aapko sharam nahin ayi, (You wife is wearing such a revealing dress, aren’t you ashamed?)
Sami tum muslim ho achhi tarah jante ho ki orot ko kaise rakha jata hai yah sobha nahi deta (You are a Muslim and you know very well that how women should be kept. This kind of dressing won’t do)
The Indian fast bowler, however, gave a fitting reply to the trolls on both Twitter and Facebook.
“Very good morning ?? Har kisi ko jindagi mai mukam ni milta, kuch kismat wale hi hote hai jinhe ye nasib hota hai.!.jalteee rahooooo… (Not everyone get what they desire, only a lucky few get it),” he wrote to his 40 thousand plus followers on Twitter.
“Ye dono (wife and daughter) meri zindage or life partner hai me acha trha janta hu kiya karna hai kiya nahi.hame apne andar dekhna chahiye ham kitna accha hai.?? (They are my wife and daughter and I know what I should do. We should all look inwards).
The 26-year-old pacer got support from India player Mohammed Kaif, who termed the comments as ‘shameful’.
“The comments are really really Shameful. Support Mohammed Shami fully. There are much bigger issues in this country. Hope sense prevails,” Kaif tweeted.
