After the body of 12 year-old found near Kurla terminus, the Central Railway will soon have CCTV (Close-Circuit Television) with advance technology which will alert the the Central Rail0way police about the abandoned baggage or unruly crowds at Stations.
In a Press meet on Tuesday at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), the RPF officials told reporters that they are working and will soon activate the advance technologies cameras at the stations which will alert us (alarms raised by camera) spotting suspicious activity .
CR has installed the cameras with video analytics technology at six stations under the Integrated Security System (ISS). They were enabled with video analytics which would raise an alarm if activities related to queue breaking, suspicious activity and baggage stealing were detected.
Senior divisional security commissioner (Mumbai division) Sachin Bhalode said, “The cameras, though fitted with advanced technology, are unable to zoom properly, which makes spotting criminal activities or identifying people difficult. This system is undergoing checks and testing, and will be activated soon”.
