At the Parel-Elphinstone foot over bridge, the stampede claimed about 22 lives and left 30 injured. In Mumbai, the rush hours reach at its peak can prove quite fatal, as it was witnessed today. The life threatening stampede occurred at about 10:30 am today morning on the footbridge that connects Parel and Elphinstone Road.

Due to the unexpected downpour, the crowd resorted to the footbridge and the crowd only grew bigger as they sought shelter on the bridge.

CM Devendra Fadnavis took to twitter and announced that ₹5 lakhs as monetary relief for the next of the kin of deceased. Also, all the medical expenses of the injured will be borne by GoM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also conveyed his deepest condolences and prayers for the people who died in the incident and the ones left injured.

Meanwhile, the people who got severely injured in morning stampede are admitted in KEM Hospital. Also, for further treatment, the hospital is running short of blood supply for the blood groups of B-ve and AB-ve. An urgent request for its procurement is circulated.
