Mumbai: After one year of investigation, the Charkop police on Tuesday arrested woman in connection of 62-year-old retired banker husband, along with her sister and her boyfriend involved in crime, police said. During interrogation, the woman finally broked down and confessed to having killed her husband.
According to the police, the deceased who has been identifed Prakash Wankhede (62), who retired from a nationalised bank and a resident of Charkop in Kandivali had gone ‘missing’ from suburban Kandivli last year after which missing complaint was filed by victim’s wife and accused Asha Wankhede. One week after a decomposed body was found by the road side in Parner which was later revealed that body is of Prakash Wankhede.
During the probe, police found that an Accidental Death Report (ADR) was registered at Parner police station in Ahmednagar last year.
After the body was found, the deceased victim’s wife was called to the police station for questioning. A police team headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Deshmane kept a watch on her as police had doubt on her as she failed to give satisfactorily answer their questions whenever she was called to the police station.
On Sunday , Police picked Asha from her home for questioning. During repeated questioning the accused Asha broked down and confessed of killing her husband. In statement given to the police she confessed, she was fed up with her husband’s accusations that she was having an extramarital affair after which she planned to end his life. She also namned her sister and her boyfriend’s named who were eqaully involved in this crime.
Police on Tuesday arrested Asha’s sister Vandana Thorave and Thorave’s boyfriend Nilesh Supekar. It was Nilesh who hit Prakash with a Iron road and dumped his body in Parner. Police ahve arrested the tri accused and booked them under relevant sections of IPC. All the three accused were produce in Borivali Court and remanded in the police custody for further investigation.
