A five-year-old Sr.Kg girl from Thakur International School in Kandivali, lost a part of her little finger which got stuch in the dorr of a classroom. After the incident, the school authorities did not rush her to the hospital instead inform parents and kept waiting leaving her in pain.

Mumbai: The terrifying incident took place in Kandivali’s Thakur International School on Wednesday where a five-year-old girl loses her finger which got crushed into the door of a classroom. The school authorities picked a part of her finger put it into plastic bag and  waits for parents to take her to the hospital. More than 500 parents protested outside the school after the incident and demanded basic medical services in all schools across the city so that such incidents can be avoided in future. Meanwhile the parents of the girl had registered case against school authorities for their negligence.

Jeevika Mestry, a resident of Kandivali’s Mahavir Nagar, studies in senior kindergarten at the school. On Wednesday, the father of Jeevika got a call from school that she is hurt and asked him to come and pick up her. The father informed to his wife about it and told her to reach school. By the time school authorities again called him and asked him to come without fast, when asked what had happened they told it’s a minor accident.

When Jeevika’s mother reached school she was shocked to her daughter sitting in school with her finger bleeding and a tip of her finger wrapped in plastic bag which was handed to Jeevika’s mother.jivika-mistri-1She was rushed to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Andheri and underwent surgery. But it was too delay, the nerves were damaged and the dismembered finger could not be reattached.

“It was the responsibility of the school authorities to admit my daughter to the hospital rather than wait for the parents to arrive. Due to carelessness of the school my daughter lost her finger”, said father of Jeevika, Hitesh Mistry.

The parents also alleged that school authorities did not had first aid kit to their daughter to stop the blood.

The parents of Jeevika regsitered a case against the school authorities at Kandivali Police Station under sections 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC. Police are investigationg the case.

After knowing about the incident more than 500 parents gathered at the school and protested. The parents demanded basic medical services at all the school premises so that such incident can be avoided in future.
