Panaji: A horrifying incident took place in South Goa, where a 28-year-old Irish woman was found brutally murdered at Deobaug in Canacona sub-district of South Goa on Tuesday. The woman had severals injury marks on head, face and other parts of the body. The body was found nude lying on the ground at Canacona.
According to the police, the deceased woman has been identified as Danniel McLaughlin had arrived India with her friends. She has been staying at Arambol and had come to Palolem beach with friend to celebrate Holi.
On Tuesday morning a resident from Canacona spotted the body lying nude after which he alerted the locals and the Police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sammy Tavares is quoted as saying: ‘The body was lying in a pool of blood without clothes and there were injuries to the head and face. The body has been sent to the Goa Medical College near Panaji for a post mortem to ascertain whether she was sexually assaulted or not, accordingly the action will be taken.
With the help of her friend, the police are investigating and have arrested a thief and ex-convict Vikat Bhagat aprime suspect into this case. Today, the accused Bhagat will be produced before the court.
Police have registered the case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
