Mumbai: A 15-year-old girl was attacked by a woman with a bucket for walking on neighbour’s pathway and later in the evening a group of 10-12 people thrashed her to death in Goregaon on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Meghna Agawane (15) student of 11th standard, lived in the same area of Siddhart nagar in Goregaon with her parents.

According to the sources, the incident took place on Monday morning at around 9.30 am, when Meghna was returning home from classes. The neighbour of Meghna was sweeping in front of her house. As Meghna was walking on pathway when neighbour stopped her and asked not to go from her pathway. An argument erupted over this, to which neighbour attack her with a bucket and Megna fell on the ground.

When she reached home, her parents were shocked to see her bleeding. When she narrated the incident, parents along with Megna went to Goregaon Police Station and filed a complaint against the neighbour.

In the evening, when the Megna’d sister Pooja went to neighbour and asked why she attacked Megna with a bucket. In an anger neighbour along with a group of 10-12 people entered into Megna’s house and thrashed her. The father of the victim trying to protect his daughter, took knife from kitchen and asked the people to leave his house. When people tried to hold on him, the knife which he was carrying mistakely got into Meghna’s chest.

She was immediately rushed to the Siddharth hospital and got admitted but later she was declared dead by the doctors. After her death, doctors called police who reached the spot and started its investigations.

Speaking to police officials of Goregaon police station said, ‘an offense against seven person including father of the deceased has been registered under section 304, 143, 147, 148, 149 and 323 of Indfian Penal Code. All the seven were produced before the court and remanded in the police custody. Further the investigation is going on
