Pune: A group of 11 people proceeding to Akkalkot temple in Solapur were killed on early Saturday when the minibus they hired rammed into a truck on Pune-Solapur Highway at Uruli-Kanchan town in Pune district. Many other people were serioulsy injured were rushed to the nearby hospital.
According to Pune Highway Control officials, the eleven deceased including a baby girl has been identified as Vijay Kale, Jyoti Kale, YogeshLokhande, Jayawant Chavan, Yogita Chavan, Revati Chavan, Jagdish Pandit, Shailaja Pandit were the residents of Mulund while Pradip Awchat and Sulabha Awachat were the residents of Junnar in Pune district beside busdriver Ketan Pawar. A girl’s body is yet to be identified.
The couple has hired a mini bus and were travelling to Akkalkot a famous temple in Solapur district. The Mini-bus belong to Tempo Travels Co. As per the preliminary reports, the bus driver lost the control over the vehicle when an unexpectdly animal came infront of bus trying to cross the road. The bus collied with a truck near Uruli-Kanchan village. The incident toojk place on Saturday early morning at around 4.10 am. The driver of the truck and some other people were seriously injured were rushed to the hospital.
A team of police and Ambulance were rushed to the spot, the njured people were taken to the hospital. The accident was so massive that it has also affected the traffic. The bodies of the victims have been sent to Pune Hospital for autopsy.
Further the investigation is going on.
